600$ passive speaker, honky as can get, starts at 60hz, score!

"A tremendous amount of attention has been put into ensuring that performance matches that of the original speakers. CLA10 is made from MDF with a real wood veneer. We changed the rear terminal plate to use a better grade of connector. The crossover network uses the same value capacitors – just a better grade of material and rating. The inductors exactly match the original in dc resistance, winding dimensions and value. "

ahah: we matched the ****ty box, crappy MDF with real copy of imitation wood veneer, so if should sound as honky as intended ahah.

Shouldn't they have emulated the toilet paper sheets? after all, the hype caught from Clearmountain but he was using it WITH paper toilet over the tweeter, so the original design was never used "bare ass" ?!

Passive. Nice.

I think I'll get an old Fisher tube receiver for these.

My favorite amping for the ns10s is to use TWO Crown D-75s:

...You bridge each D-75 as a mono amp, and use two of 'em (one for each box).

There's just something about that combination that works.
(I don't know why.)

Never before in the field of human conflict has so much attention been lavished by so many to create so little.

These are going to sell a ton, off of the brand recognition the NS10s have. The millennials (I happen to be one) are going to eat this up, as we well as some of the more experienced engineers.

I sort of saw this coming; they not too long ago announced that they'll be providing almost exact replicas of the NS10s woofer and tweeter, for old NS10s that needed replacing, so this was the next obvious step.

They have a model that works here; they did it with the Mixcubes emulating the Auratones, and they're doing it here again. The thing that's interesting to me is, while so many companies have gone into the emulation of hardware devices (compressors, EQs, microphones, preamps), no one has really tapped into the monitor emulation market like Avantone has. It's actually pretty darn brilliant when you think about it. The other emulation models are, for the most part, saturated; competition is stiff. While in monitor emulation, there is no competition at all...none! Not even Yamaha is competing here, and it's their original design lol. Well played Avantone! I'm pretty sure I know what their next move is... When Avantone announced the Mixcubes, they only had the passive versions, then later came the active ones. I'm almost certain they'll do the same for this - those active NS10 replicas are coming...soon! I could bet on it!

One last thing; is Chris Lord-Alge super annoying, or is it just me? Talk about cringe! The levels of pompous this man exudes could rival Trump's.

Either get shameless or stay fameless.

No mention, really, of what The Sound of Hits uses to power the white cones in the black boxes with his name on them. Any idea?

Why does a guy as successful as CLA (see? his name is worthy of an acronym!) feel the need to be a shill? I even winced a little at some of the presentations he gave about his line of Waves plugs.

Like, why does Shaq do ads for IcyHot and Taco Bell? Does he need the money? Maybe he's having fun.

Does CLA need the money? Maybe he likes promoting stuff. Maybe he really believes he's helping all the frustrated bedroom producers of the world.

It's a mystery.

I think Shaq needs reasons to get out of the house.

In TSoH's case, he's not even doing that.

This echoes my thoughts pretty much exactly. I bet they'll sell well. While many folks don't lie NS-10s (myself included) they remain the industry standard despite being out of production for how long now?

That said, if the price point was $300, they'd sell 3x as many, maybe more. Face it - almost everyone would buy a set of NS10s if they were cheap.

Agreed! I'm actually surprised at the price; I thought it would be cheaper, but I see they're milking that NS10 name for all it's worth.

I like Avantone's business model though; simple but brilliant. They've cornered and controlled the Auratone replica market for years now, and it's likely they'll do it with this again.

Behringer came out with the Beritones not too long after, when they saw how successful the Avantone Mixcubes were. So I won't be surprised to see another manufacturer (Behringer again?) do the same with the NS10s later on.

One thing I noticed though, I believe Auratone began producing the 5C Soundcubes again, after they saw the success of the Mixcubes, which is hilarious to me. And although they're the original makers, the Mixcubes have now become the go-to monitor for grotboxes. People don't even buy from the original manufacturer the way they buy the Mixcubes, and I have a feeling the same thing will happen here again, but perhaps with a different outcome? Yamaha is a much bigger name than Avantone, with far more reach, and a much larger marketing budget. If they decided to start producing new NS10s (maybe actives, with built-in amps?), and match/undercut the price of the Avantones, or even sell them for a few hundred more with built-in amps, Avantones dreams will quickly become crippled.

We need an “I am the sound of hitz” remix - someone get it done

(Preferably monitoring on these very speakers - to insure the hitz flow through)
