Pawn shop PA's?

Hi,

I'm looking into buying a small PA to use for practice/solo gigs. I've been searching craigslist and ebay, and I recently checked out a local pawn shop.

They offered me a Stageworks H100 powered mixer (price was 170) and two Peavy 100DL speakers for a total of $200. I plugged in a guitar and was pretty pleased with the sound, but I never buy anything without doing my homework. I can't find very much information on this gear since it's a bit dated. The best specs I could find on the speakers were on this site:

Peavey 110DL Pa Speaker 10" 140W 8OHMS

Nothing on the powered mixer. Has anyone had any experience with this equipment? Any advice on this offer?

I'm a newbie on PA equipment, so I'm a little hesitant.

If it's for solo acoustic guitar gigs in coffee shops, could work. If it's for electric guitar, it's probably going to be not enough.

If you buy, just know you'll probably want to upgrade quickly. If you can afford to wait and save to get something better first, it's probably money better spent.

I agree with nedorama, 140 Watts probably would accomodate your practice space but would fall short of filling a busy venue with enough sound.

It depends on what your goal and your budget are? What kind of gigs, what kind of instruments?
