Removing mouth/saliva noises on a live performance

Hey there,

One of the things that stands out to when listening to the best live performances is the lack of mouth/saliva clicks.

Does anyone know how they're removed in realtime? Surely it can't just be technique? Even when singing directly into the mic (and not off axis) I sometimes can't hear any.

stop smoking, especially weed, and drink enough water!

in live sound, minor details get lost in the overall sound, at least when using dynamic mics - if listening to mixes which were tracked live but mixed in the studio, do not expect that what you hear is what you get: of course there haven been massive amounts of tweaking in most cases...

one can occasionally hear some clicks' in live broadcasts though.
