Getting more range out of ipad to console remote connectivity

Hi there,

I've had a few events where I'm controlling a Yamaha CL5 remotely with the Yamaha iPad app so that I can walk around the venue and tweak the room. I have a wifi router connected to my console so that I may connect the ipad to the network. I'm looking to get more range out of my ipad in excess of 300-500 feet away from wifi router.

I'm looking for suggestions on something that can boost my wifi signal to achieve more range. Maybe a high-powered antenna? Wifi booster? Anyone have experience in this setup?

Any help is appreciated

Check out Radiolabs

RadioLabs - The Wireless and Radio Experts | RadioLabs

Have a chat with one of their sales engineers and they'll help you find something to meet your needs. I have used them a few times in the past and they have solid solutions at a reasonable price.

This might be a good starting point to consider

Have a look at this:

May have been me mentioning Airport Express. My desks are A&H QU series.

After trying several cheaper routers, and not getting the reliability I wanted I've gone over to these, which have worked very well for me for several years now.

Relatively small and run from mains power without a separate PSU..
Can be set up directly from an iPad, with Airport Utility.
AirPlay function is useful too.
Another + is that you can use a 2nd one to wirelessly extend coverage - once set up the first time (admittedly a slow process, but not difficult), you just need to find any power socket within range of the first, and plug it in..
Two of mine are refurbished eBay jobs, for not much dosh, and work fine.
