12 subs (x2) with 10's or 12's?

I have settled on an EV ELX 200 system for the new PA, but am unsure whter to run 10" tops with the 12" subs or 12" tops as well as the subs...

Thoughts, anyone?

thanks

Before you can ask questions like this, you need to tell people more about what you're trying to do.

Lives for gear
ELX200-10 = 127 dB SPL
ELX200-12 = 128 dB SPL
ELX200-12SP = 129 db SPL

I like to have some headroom on the subs. Considering the SPL, 10" tops with 12" subs seems like a system where all the components would be strained equaly. Considering how plastic speakers usually behave, 10" ones will probably have less problems with resonance.
OTOH the 12" top seems to have a slightly larger horn which should be able keep the directivity to a bit lower frequency.

cool guys, thanks - yeah sorry badsearcher, haha, just realised I hadn't done that.

I am playing solo gigs, left hand basslines right hand keys and my own backing trax (mostly just drums and one or two guitars) and vocals.

I am told the 10's will be "cripser" and mebbe better for vocals??

Does not sound like you will have real high SPL needs.

I would go with the 12" two way box.

There might be gigs you do not want to use subs.
