Act like you dig me

Situation: You encounter a famous person, an idol, someone you want a picture with.

Walk right up to them and as you put your arm around them

Whisper into their ear," act like you dig me."

Friend snaps the picture.

That sounds dangerous. Most famous people have body guards and they'll be all over you before you even get close.

Despite your reservations, it has always worked for me. They laugh when I do it.
The latest encounter was with Jimmy Page as he was walking down a street in Chicago.

Often the people are with another person or by themselves. No body guards in sight.

The bodyguard you can not see is the one you need to worry about.

I don't pose like a tourist most of the time. I meet them and I visit with them. Then I say, "keep spreading the joy."

Sometimes I meet the people when they're in a store shopping for a new shirt. Sometimes at a resto. Never a problem.

I don't like to see famous people...it could cause schizophrenia; they belong on TV and recordings IMHO. Shirley Bassey is the only exception; she has a lovely smile. Spencer Davis is cool too.

I ran into Tom Araya at the grocery store last month, I think he would have punched me if I said that....

I almost did a tracking session for Slayer once -- long story -- and they all seemed like very nice guys. I bet he'd have been fine with it.
