Hi Everybody, I'm one half of a dawless live looping duo with way too much gear.

Hi everybody, My name's Mat and I play in a covers duo that bounces between live looping with loads of gear, and stripped down acoustic stuff with just a couple of guitars.

Our looping rig consists of:

2x Boss RC300s linked via midi - these are the heart of everything.
2x JDXI synths
2x GR55 guitar synths
2x TC Helicon Voicelive 3s
2x POGs
1x HPD 10
1x HPD 20
and a bit of miscellaneous stuff.

Our latest vid was a cover of Missing (Todd Terry Remix) by Everything But The Girl. We consider ourselves primarily a guitar duo, but there's so little guitar in this one that I think it would be more accurate to call it electronic music. Genres, eh?

Anyway I'd LOVE to hear what you think and to chat with members about gear, production, and performance etc. I'm not massively technical, so we're basically using about 10% of the potential of each bit of gear. Lol!

Cheers and thanks for reading!

Here for the gear

Welcome

Welcome to GS Mat.

Nice sounds from you and your partner.

I am working on an invention you two might enjoy - a networked collaborative live looper that works over the internet.

Here's a quick demo:

Check my only other post in this forum for a little more info. I would love to onboard you two as beta testers (for when you are practicing or away from each other) as you probably could provide some valuable feedback.

If you own an iOS device and would like to participate in the private beta, send me a DM or fill out THIS FORM

Cheers, and keep on rocking.

Hi there - haha, I shall do that! We've been a duo for around 11 years, but only really started to take looping seriously in about 2017. We've taken a little break from looping this year and focussed on purely acoustic stuff in order to increase the number of gigs we get that are simple and straightforward, since we spend so much time trying to explain to people that a show like the one you saw in the above video requires about the same space as a four piece band would take up - haha!

I'm 40 and sohie is 31. But obviously that's just between us...

You?

Hey there Liam - wow that looks very cool indeed! I'm afraid we're a little busy with a couple of projects at the minute, but if I can keep the link to the form you sent me it may be that we suddenly have an opening further down the line.

Must have taken a huge amount of work to build! How do you deal with things like syncing and latency? Is it all done automatically?
