Here for the gear

Hi All,
Just joined this great community after lurking for a while...basically i'm learning to play drums at a pretty mature age and thought it would be a good idea to record my band rehearsals with a view to helping my playing...little did i know that this would 1) be a lot more tricky than id first imagined and a real steep learning curve with what's involved and 2) spark my curiosity for audio recording in general....so at the moment im armed with a zoom H5...with an offer to download cubase LD (i think its called)...Reaper...and Garageband on my MacBook and no idea what I need to do with it all
so if anyone can make this a bit clearer i would appreciate the help.
