Price for a used AKG BX20E ?

Hi

I might have the option to acquire an AKG BX20E reverb unit.
It seems the unit will be "sold as seen" and as such I was wondering if anyone could give a guide as to what is reasonable to pay for it ?
I have searched through as many of the GS threads as possible so I am aware that these aren't easy to get parts/ service for etc.

Any thoughts are appreciated

Simon

Careful, a lot of them have issues with coils blowing!

I paid $2k for mine 4 years ago. It also came with a complete spare that had all the parts but the external wood box was damaged.

Good luck-

'sold as seen' usually translates as 'sold obscene.'

I guess it depends on where you are. I've seen them go for as little as $500 not too long ago. I bought my BX25 for around the same. On the other hand I've seen auctions that ended at 4 times that.

It's old stuff so one can expect some problems. Electronics isn't much of a problem. Damaged coil(s) can make it a big and expensive doorstop. So be very careful not to damage them in transport.

$300 for mine. So many years ago. Cost more to ship the darn thing. Still going strong and used every day.

I have a great condition BX-10 that I would part with
for a fair price...

I highly recommend you not ship it and instead pick it up if possible.

The spare I got with mine that was damaged was exactly because of that- the guy had bought one and had it shipped; it showed up smashed up. Fortunately all the components survived- but the beautiful wood box was crushed.

Good luck-
