224XL is the pinnacle of Lexicon reverbs for me. They hit the absolute sweet spot for with that machine. Huge character..thickens and enhances eveything..super sweet top..not too dark. A real step up over the 224.

The 480 imo was a step down.. The Bricasti to me is a direct and far enhanced replacement version of the 480L. I always went to the 224XL over the 480L..except for some of the effects programs.

I'm happy with an M7, 224xl and maybe an AMS DMX.

A shout out for the AMS RMX16 with V4.0 software..Those extra halls and plates are absolute killer.

I met the Lex designer way back. I asked him about the various Lex's, computer power.....was the PCM91 running one of the 480's 4 'engines' and so on.
He explained quite a few things, but ultimately said that irrespective of all of that, his favourite of the lot was the 480. Me too.
I have a memory cart for that machine. If any of you would like to have it, be my guest. Free of course, just postage.
