Radial ChainDrive, true high end ?

Hi there,

my chain is: Api 512c - Neve 33609 - Api 550b - A/D Converter.

I'd like to trim and split before the A/D.

Does the Radial ChainDrive suppose to be in the same league ?

Thanks

Mf

THD+N under 0.0005% at +4dBu in. 20Hz to 20KHz as measured on an AP. I think that is pretty good. It was designed to be in the same league.

Dear Mr. Fraser,

thanks for your reply.

Do you think +24dBu as maximum input leve will be enough to deal with an hot incoming signal from Api 512c ?

Do the ChaiDrive's pots have a detent point for unity gain ?

+24 is really hot and overload is possible. But if you turn down the API even a little bit, you will be OK.

As for pots with detent we have not be able to find any accurate enough. There is up to 2db difference side to side and channel to channel with them. We can only get the accuracy needed with a stepped switch attenuator and those are quite a bit more costly. I mean a real stepped switch attenuator, not just a pot with multiple detents.
