For mastering in my opinion...yes(Mastering version).

What's new(or different) are the Grayhill detents(knobs) and the Mid/side or Vactral/Lateral mods.

All i can say is that the mastering version of the Vari-Mu has made me really get into the Vari-Mu again. Its funny having the mods to me makes it sound better and more fun to use( I know this is probably psychological but to me there is a difference).

Now if only i could afford the Manley mastering console.grudge

Especially Scott Hull's over at The Hit Factory.

Man that thing has to be one of the coolest consoles period(I've had the chance to mess with it a couple of times and it made my jaw drop).

Evanna...if i could inquire how much is it or was it to build?

Yeah but... which version of the mastering version?

There's a ton of t-bar moded units out there that have no marking or indicator if it has this mod or not.

If you absolutely have to buy a Manley Vari-Mu, I'd go with the mastering version and hardly ever take off more than -2 at the most extreme peaks in your program material. I would recommend against any Manley products. The company is plagued with customer service problems, and is ethically bankrupt in mind mind after the whole Pendulum nonsense (which comes from the whole trademarking of the term "Vari-Mu") among the other things. Besides, there are much better options at much better values out there.
