Samar MF 65 vs. AL 39

I've listened to the MF65 and most of the other major ribbon players at a friend's studio (he's a ribbon maniac), and I made a solid decision to go with the Samar. I just noticed on their site that they're now offering the AL 39, which gets equally rave reviews but costs a lot less. Cost is not an issue, but if I can spend less I'll of course do it (plus the AL39 looks cooler, to me).

Has anyone actually heard/used them both and can give me as best a description as possible of the sonic difference?

Thanks!
