Can you tell me anything more than +1. What source does it work best with.
Is it clean sounding tone. Anything you dont like about the unit ?

thanks

Hi, I haven't used a Hellax but I do have a Dynax. It is built like a tank and sounds incredible, amazing on drums!

I was recently interested in their 500 series KOMP5, but it has unfortunately been discontinued. In my correspondence with Olivier Bolling, he told me that the Hellax is "THE TOOL for vocals". The Dynax is more for mastering and bus duties, drums, etc...

I know they sound nOthing alike but would anyone know what's the comparable differences between a Hellax and 1176 besides the obvious FET VS OPTO responses?

Having owned both the HEllax and 1176 Rev F the difference are large.
The 1176 has grit and instant colour on your sound. Less sculpting.
The Hellax is clean, clear and way more articulate control.
It's like a Pastry Chef putting the delicate icing and fancy frilly bits on top and around the wedding cake. The finishing touches are important. The 1176 is like the thick chunky icing all around the cake.
Still very delicious.
Hope that helps.

agreed. having owned both for a few months now I've preferred my 1176 on vocals. the Hellax is very good but i find it to Play up the Esses on vocals after coming out of my Europa mic Pre. the 1176 doesn't really. its a bit more colored and warmer. but the clean smoothness of the hellax is so versatile, works on Low male or less essy vocals and all DI instruments. great on guitar and bass.

my only peeve is that you need to come out of your pre pretty hot to get some sort of decent compression response, otherwise your red compression knob is stuck at around 10-11 to trigger the threshold. butttttt it really doesn't bother me
