So Seamus how do you like the eqs in your console for mixing?
I had a pair of those 900 eqs a few years ago...loved them

Personally, I love them.
We used to have four of them before we moved to this place (that already had the console), so I've been using them for quite a while.

They never sound "bad".
You can crank on them, or do broader strokes with just a little.
Always sounds somewhere between useful and great.

Do I sometimes wish that there was 80Hz on them?
Sure.

I have found that using the same kind of (somewhat) limited eq for everything tends to help sculpt a mix in a unique way.
I like that.

Another Raindirk series III... Love it!

Credit for the pic goes to one of my longest standing studio clients, Eoghan who also turns out to be great with a camera!

it's a wsw from the early 70's modified by David Küblböck from Ostrong Audio with 48V and patchbay. the room was built as a one of three recording rooms but after buying the desk it ended up being a control room from time to time (whenever clients have the budget to go fully analog and to tape). the desk sounds very good with nice clean pres (though a bit of noise seeps through once you crank them) and absolutely fabulous (fixed frequency) eqs on it. 12 db boosts on the top end (not that you ever end up using it) and never sounding harsh

I've got a Tracktech 24 channel in-line console running over here.
Kinda is a funny console as it is a prototype. I suspect Tracktech have had something to do with Harrison consoles. I've never seen terms like 'ping' and 'local' on any other console than my tracktech and on a Harrisson 32 or 24. And the layout is strikingly similar.

Console sounds great though! really liking the eq's. Really broad eq curves which seem to get narrower as you boost/cut more. Works well, although not really suited for surgical work.

its true the colours on it do remind me a bit of old japanese animes. the cool thing about the desk is that it used to be a broadcast unit and most channels are stereo with a switchable m/s on them. but really i think the eqs are just beautiful on it. they're so nice that we were thinking of taking some of the spare channel strips that we have and re-racking them in 19" format. they have a low cut at 10 or 80 hz and a selectable boost/cut between 80 hz and 6k with a third hi freq boost at 12 or 16k. plus some cool meters and a mod with 3 different output transformers (and we have two other different ones that we can put in) that go from thicker to lighter. plus an extra mod for monitor switch on it

the color in this pic got a bit saturated. the faders are actually a lot darker. we have an avocet in the main control room and they have a very particular shade of green. not necessarily pretty imo although i like the rack unit status light (as ******** as that may be)
