Flea 47 or vintage U87

I know some of this has been covered before but would really appreciate some input on this.
Please take note that this is for my private studio. Will be mainly used as main vocal microphone with BAE 1084 and Retro Powerstrip preamps.
Impossible to try both and finding a top condition non Ai Vintage un-modified U87 is getting harder, I am really interested to know about your experiences. I seek for rich sound with nice mids and smooth hi's (non essy).
I am only interested in either one of these two microphones. I've checked many other manufacturers and boutique shops options. Thanks.

PM me if you have a u87 for sale.

flea 47, no question at all.

rich sound, nice mids, smooth his (def not too sibilant) - exactly what you're looking for.

87 is great too. just not AMAZING like the 47

Both are great.

I love my Flea 47.

If I could only keep one, the 87 would be out of the door.

TOTALLY agreed. Flea all the way. Just a phenomenal mic, and something a bit off the beaten path.

If an 87 works on your voice an 87, but I would in generic terms grab a Flea 47!
