Studer A810 questions

Hi, I'm wondering are there any parts in the A810 that are completely unobtainable unless you salvage another machine or go the Ebay route?

I'll give this a bump. I realize I'll need to look to salvage machine for the logic circuits. But what about parts for the transport, etc?

You should check with John French if you're in the states. I own an A810 and I've never had a problem getting it taken care of or maintained. But whether there are ANY parts that you couldn't replace? Like what?

I'm in the Boston area (any suggestions for Studer expert technicians in this area also welcome). John has been very helpful with regard to the playback heads.

By any parts that can't be replaced I mean very old opamps, integrated circuits, etc that might be difficult to find.

I'd ask Andreas Kuhn at analog audio.. analog - audio
He will know for sure and will have the spare parts..

It's in Switzerland and not cheap, but it's worthed IF the parts are not obtainable anywhere else in the states.

I hope this helps,

A question for A810 owners about the brake action- are the reels supposed to come to an immediate stop when you press stop?

If they don't is it an indication of worn brakes?
