But what's "accurate" ? and who makes the rules ? Depends on the music, for rock and roll ? high SPL, classical, detail etc etc. I know some engineers who swear by Yamaha NS1000's, not a very "accurate" speaker by any means, by some peoples opinions, but very inspiring according to others. I think speakers are like guitar amps, they have to inspire you to play, and if they sound like **** in the studio while your tracking hen your wasting your time with them. I want to hear what I hear in my live room, in the control room, end of story. We all know this is a dream, but we may as well get as near as we can ?

Been a very good weekend, a friend has given me his ATC SCM10 PRO's to sell for him, in the meantime, I'm testing them out here. This is the first time I've ever had anything of this quallity in here. The first thing I noticed was a complete lack of coloration at the top end, very clean and natural, but the bass, being close to a wall, was a bit over-blown, this is what I thought would happen anyway, so I've spent the whole weekend re-locating my studio in another, much larger room (18X20ft) they really do sound spot-on now, as I am able to get them away from walls, and listen at a reasonable distance. I know these speakers aren't super high-end, but they sound pretty damn good to me, at least this will give me a better idea of the sort of sound to look for when I finally go shopping for my own speakers, a very interesting weekend indeed.

My advise: if you like it don't sell this speakers, buy it! and spend about 2k in Acoustics.

I can't buy them now, haven't got the cash, but if my friend can waite a few months, then yes, I would consider buying them. But I do want to listen to some other things before I make up my mind.

There is a new top end studio shop just opened in London - The Studio Shop - well worth a look as they are specialising in good advice and only the best top end equipment.

Just down the road from Highgate Tube.

Thank"s John, will have a look, although, it's always a bit frustrating, window shopping, still, I always say that if they are helpful and honest etc then they stand a good chance of getting my money later on.

I think they've made some errors on their PMC prices listed on the website, either that or they're far too expensive.

The PMC twotwo.5 is £2750 ex VAT, same price as KMR Audio
But the twotwo.6 is listed as £4200 ex VAT, thats same as KMR Audio's price including VAT!

AML2 £8000 ex VAT. At KMR its £6750 ex VAT (£8100 inc VAT)

I'm going over there today, just to have a look around, it's always interesting going to these places, and experiencing the sort of welcome you get when you say you haven't got any money righ now !

Looks like the site went live before it should as they are still working on the prices - I have been told it may go down for a few days before going up again.

i haven't heard the 0410 but have the k/h 410 predecessor and think they're magnificent. not sure what, if anything has been changed since the re-badge
on my shortlist the atc25s came a close second but were a little bright for my taste.

My understanding is that the K+H O410 and the Neumann KH410 are identical except for the badge.

The O410 was a new monitor, introduced just before Sennheiser made the change from K+H to Neumann for the Studio Monitors, so a re-badge made sense for this model.

I went over to the Studio Shop yesterday. Very friendly guy, but they are still in the process of opening I think. They have a couple of interesting events coming up, an API evening, and a performance using a Buchla synth, so I will be going to those. The chap there was very helpful, and I'm seeing him tomorrow to talk more seriously about getting a list together of what I need. In reality though, I can see me buying some mic's from them, they have a good selection of anything that matters, but as for outboard, and converters, it's a bit too high end for me, and would be wasted on my studio and music that I make.
