1176 compression question

When the gain reduction meters are pinning to the left, does the gain reduction continue, or is that when distortion starts?

I never really ever look at the meters, but I'm curious about the technical side of things.

$ .02

it merely means you've exceded the meter's ability to show you how much is going on...

The gain reduction and meter tracking use independent Fets, also it's the hardest part of the calibration process to get 100% right. Just use your ears and be happy What rev is the unit BTW?

The 1176 will distort with faster attack times (knob clockwise) thats part of the charm.

compression IS distortion. release the hounds!

also, i reckon the release time is a bigger factor than the attack in how much these babies distort.
