For me the Retro 2a3 makes me smile everytime I go from bypassed to in. And the mod that Black Lion audio did to my 192

My Compex, for the input transformer alone. Pushing hard into that can do absolute magic and was a complete 'lightbulb' moment for me.

For me it was my Manley ELOP. It wasn't immediate, but I came to love how idiot proof it is and how indespensible it became to me for tracking vocals and bass. It's made a lot processes further down the road a lot easier for me.

When I started using my daking pres I had a wow moment. Something about that size transformer based pres give knocked me out as soon as I heard playback. Also, my vca buss comp really opened my eyes to what a properly tuned comp can do for a mix.

I know that some people don't care for the unit much, but my Avalon AD2055 EQ wows me every time I need to fix something. I love the sound of that thing and use it more on inserts than the Neve 8803 that I have.

Since I've done a lot of upgrading recently, most of my gear gives me that wow factor now

But the biggest wow I've ever experienced: hearing that first mix play off my Sony APR-5002. It was mind blowing. Especially considering id previously been mixing to a tascam 32. :D
