As an example to the MA5 vs Heritage comparison - I did the usual mic/preamp tests with a female vocalist I'm working with. We got to the MA5, which she liked, then when we got to the 1073, she really liked it. I ended up going with the MA5 though, as I felt it was better for that particular track, with that mic, with her voice. On another track/voice/mic combo, it would easily be the Heritage.

We really are lucky to have such great tools and options these days.

I have owned and used the ma5, the vintech 535, the slate fox and the bae 1073 mpf. The mpf is far and away the best sounding. The vintech the obvious worst sounding imo. I am super excited to hear the bae 500 series they just came out with.

Pairing an MA5 and E27 will give you darn near everything you need. Putting a compressor like a OneLA after that and you will be one happy camper.
