Yeah, seems like Paris is always behind the technology curve.
Actually, e-cue, you'd be surprised. Paris is about as close to the cutting edge of the pro audio tech curve as it gets, right along with NYC and LA.

The first Neve 88R, the first two SSL K series, the first two Axion MTs and the first Oxford in Europe were all installed in Paris...pretty much simultaneously with the first installs in LA and NYC.

Film mixing and major-label music mixing work gravitates to the 4k, 9k, Oxford and Axiom rooms. For music, the 4k and 9k dominate. Still, digital mixing is very popular in town. With 15 Axiom MT's installed in Paris, one third of all Axiom MTs installed worldwide are right here. PT MixPlus + ProControl rooms are everywhere as well and are popular for demo work, post and jingles.

If I really wanted to mix in digital, I'd probably prefer an Oxford or Axiom over PT HD...Oxford for the sound, the Axiom for the familiar console interface (and an all-new version is coming out soon).

You're correct. I am suprised anyone would choose an Oxford for the sound.

High up folks at Sony tell it like this, Sony didn't mean to build a desk, it was merely an exercise to flex R&D muscles and road test their custom built DSP designing systems...
