Just got my Heritage Audio 1073/500

and just wanted to say this:

HOLY ****E!

I've just gotten to play with the pre so far for 30 minutes, but out of the box, it sounds like vintage units I've used...Incredibly balanced, headroom for days and smooth as silk in the upper mids (which is unlike many other versions I've used). Seriously, I've just gotten it out of the box and plugged it in to record a rough vocal of a song I'm writing...and it literally sounds like the singer is standing there in front of you. I haven't had time to play with the EQ, but I can't wait. SO FAR, I would HIGHLY recommend. Also, they shipped it from Spain and got it to Nashville in 3 days. Incredible customer service. I'll report more when I put the kid to bed and get some alone time with it...(That sounded a little weird...)

Fu#*k there goes $2,000 I gotta have one. Never could get happy with the AMS or the BAE.

Did you get the 500 series version?

Love to hear a clip.

Yes - got the 1073/500...

I've had a couple of Brent Averill 1073's...always thought they were a little dull and lifeless. The AMS version was a laser beam in the upper mids. I'm biding time with the family (I do love them, I swear) and then I'll post a few quick files.

Respect to them but for the price i'd probably head straight for a GTQ2!
Makes soo much sense to me!

Would love to know how this compares to an Ma5!

I'm afraid this thing is gonna sound great. I'm really curious about the level of detail on vocals and THD.

I love the way Neves compress
and capture the tails in vocal phrases etc.

I was hesitant on the price too, but look at the build...I feel like this is the equivalent of a 19'...The Aurora is great too.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Aurora. Its not a 1073 clone, though. Never tried the AML.

Hi John,

Nice! looking forward to the takes.

How does it compare to the miktek pre?

John it would be really interesting if you still had those vocal takes you did of George Harrison's tune using the BAE and AMS Neve.

Congratz. There's been some real great additions to the 500 series world in the last while but this one looks fantastic. Can't wait to hear your samples as you always provide very impressive examples.

cool! i'm sure they're great!
they must be priced cheaper than bae and ams to have a chance, because of the lack of reputation.
(quality looks great, they seem to be very well built!)

but..if someone doesn't need the eq..the sca n72 is exactly just as good as the other clones!
for 1/5 of the price, but without that red knob...
practically all of the clones are built around the carnhill replacement transformers anyway.

we all want the RED KNOB ,thats for sure- sca could double their prices
with that knob and a neve-looking fascia...

BINGO!!

Its that red knob tradition why i haven't really cared for the sca n72!
I love the look of it on the MA5 black red knob!

Well speaking of, and sorry to go OT for a minute but...

N72 + red knobs. Makes my eyes want to reach for it as much as my ears.

That new heritage 500 sounds nice though. Betcha either one of the new Blackspades your thinking about would sound very nice through it John.

I know the UM17R is really nice through the N72, or the SH gama or etc etc...

come on guys. I don't know what the heritage is, but there's no reason to be dissing the ams and bae 10 series stuff. You gotta be kidding.

Uh... No one is.

Maybe a couple of comments about guys preferring the mids from one over another. But that doesnt qualify as dissing.

I could be happy with the AMS or BAE 1073's. But In my experience, this one is smoother across the board.
