I just got a Lexicon 224XL so I'd have to put a vote in for that one. My first high end verb. I have to say so far it is everything I was hoping it would be.

I like a few yamaha and TC verbs (gated verbs on snares usually )
I have a 224X that i've never connected (only using the 480L which is the most amazing reverb there is IMO, it adds another dimention to a mix even if you just use it on one instrument ...and it fits everything )

I dig the 140. It would be hip to have two available for live to 2-track analouge dates. This of course never happens anymore so I use the EMT140 sample in ALTIVERB.

Thanks.
I'm really lucky in that they are made about a half-hour from my place. Mine was delivered by the company owners for a review for Tape Op. The review is in the new issue. Basically
its just the unit on wheels. There's a small panel on the top with 1/4" females on it, Mono in, stereo out. It's passive so I gain the aux send with my heaphone amp, and return through DIs to console pres, yea its plug and play.

how loud is that plate, acoustically?
It's not very loud, and will get going fairly easily. It doesn't have a housing so it will pick up sounds in the room. You can play to it or but an amp in front of it and record the pick-ups. It would need to be in a separate room.

My PCM-70, I wish I had a 480. I had a Peavey Valverb(spring/tremelo unit) that was killer on clean guitars. I also like the reverbs from my Eventide Eclipse..

and the SRE-555 spring is incredible for what it is!

I have a REV 7 and SPX 90 II and for the most part find them unusable in comparison

-EMT 140ST (best ever)
-AKG BX20 (great companion for the plate, if in good shape)

those are the kings but if I want something lofi:

-Dynacord VRS23 (amazing!BBD!)
-Orban 111b (great for some things, not-so-great for others)

and if i ever would need (probably wont) the most claustrofobic nightmare space:

-Dynacord DRP16 (stunning/awful/12bit)

Aloha,

+1 on TC Electronic's M series. The M-4000 is great for studio recording. The M-2000 is great for live reverb + lots of other FX.
