New compressor Shadow Hills Mastering, Slate Dragon, or Adesigns Nail

Hi to all,

I am looking for a new compressor for mastering, mixing and tracking. Budget is not a option. But if I dont have to stretch my budget to get the shadow hills compressor, I won't. I do many genres, mostly R&B, Pop, Rap. So far I have settled on the Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor, x2 slate dragon pro, or the Adesigns Nail. Please comment if you have had experience with both. Also those who have used them for mastering.

I have owned the Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor for a few years now.

It is expensive but I highly recommend it. It really does cover a lot of ground.

There are a lot of others worth taking a look at too.

Especially over the Slate and the Nail.

Vertigo VSC-2 for instance. I also use my Phoenix (Mastering Version) on just about everything.

Check out the Atomic Squeezebox from Innertube Audio. I can't believe this unit hasn't caught on more. Superb mix, mastering AND tracking compressor.

I own a pair of Slate Dragons and they're great, but they wouldn't be my first choice for mastering.

Look at the Requisite Audio L2M Mark 3, for me it handed the Shadow Hills its lunch on a plate.

I can't comment on the others, but the STC-8 is amazing, versatile and capable of the most transparent gain reduction I've heard. If it's in your budget it's definitely worth considering.

EAR 660's might be a consideration.

RND Master Buss Processor is worth a look-see. As mentioned, many great options!
