Tonelux/Nicerizer test

I printed some PT mix stems today.And A PT ITB version [See post #11 ..further down below}
raw unprocessed tracks.
l've l matched as best I could..
1 stripped down session copied side by side in 8 channel stems
Matched all fader values in PT excactly
I'm not a scientist and have limited time, so don't bitch about testing procedure, etc
Kick-1
snare-2
Rest of drums-3-4
Bass/
Keys/gtrs-5-6
Vocals 7-8
AIFF 24 bit /48K

The basic Tonelux 16 channel summing rig I want is about 5 grand more then the N-16 I already own,but is completely expandable/modular[plus all the EQ's/pre's are way cool..]
They're both great pieces of gear.
..decisions,decisions

the clips are short..so maybe loop em'..
98 BMP for all you DAW importers
I don;t have a way to host larger files outside of GS today..
and the GS limit is 5.7 megs

listen and comment if your interested

...Or not

I'm guessing A is the Nicerizer. I thought B hung together better. Things were a little more thinned out and fit better in the "window".

This is on computer speakers. I'l listen at my studio on Monday.

I like A the best, more color and more punch! The B mix sounds flat in comparison.

I like A more too...it sounds more even.

B doesn't sound bad at all...its just thinner/more forward as someone already mentioned. It sounds a bit more ITB.

My guess is A is the Nicerizer.

On lesser monitors A sounds better to me.
On main monitors A is still more attractive and B is OK.
Between this 2 samples there is audible difference in favor of A, but it could be song or subtle difference in level matching, dunno.
Can you put another song with better separation in high frequencies?

OK so I'm listening in medium quality headphones (it is too late for speakers) so take this with a grain of salt....

#1 and #2 are quite close..... I think I prefer #1 - something about the bass, mostly.

#3 sounds a LOT narrower... and perhaps a bit pinched.

anyone else wanna chime in?

Mix A is more spacious than C no doubt, although the difference in low end is less than between A and B (why?).
Guitars and vocals on A and B definitely more pleasant than on C.
For final verdict one more song, please.

Wow! Nice pic. It's 6:30 am here, and I'm listening on crappy comp speakers, so I didn't want to comment. But after that picture, I feel obligated.

I'm liking "A". Seems full, more open, to me.. B sounds cool too, I'm just liking A, while half asleep, in front of my computer speakers. I'll throw them up in my room tomorrow, and see how I feel on different speakers, and after a nap.

not bad badge but frankly, i prefer gearhunter's avatar.

on laptop spkrs for that tune i preferred A (mucho mojo), then B (some mojo), then PT (no-o mojo). A sounded rich. for different things i don't know if i'd take A though, but you always have ITB for squeaky clean. my vote is for A, which is the sound i imagine N16 having. never actually heard one though.

can't wait til you tell us A was really ITB.

wow...interesting test RoundBadge. Like everyone says A has more bass than B. PT mix is much narrower. A has more lower mid content than the others too. (listening on headphones)

Ok I just listened to the clips on some cheap home stereo speakers, but oh well the consumer would probably listen to these type speaker instead of studio monitors...

Here my take:

A: "Nice"

B: "Also Nice but a little less bass" sound very similar though. It seem like this one is a little sharper/faster transients than A...

Then after switching to C: "What the hell happen to the mix" I don't know but the imaging is different, certain instruments started to pop out of place compared to the first two.

To me A & B are close enough to not warrant any price upgrade difference between the two product(whichever one is the Nicerizer or Tonelux) but if C is truly is the Protools mix, then I can see where someone would buy the Nicerizer, because they (A&B) are different than C(but better is a matter of taste)...

I prefer clip A.
clip B is a very close second, I like the guitar chord changes better on A, and how the BD interacts with the rest of the mix on the first clip.
the mix on clip C is all over the place. and misses the tension (fits the song) of the other two.
7K is a lot, but the difference is there.
thanks for the clips.
