That **** is as cheesy as it frikkin' gets!

It is NOT less cheesy than Britney Spears!

Same ****, different decade!

You may be right about the "cheesiness" of the 1966 list.

But can you remember the melodies from any of the songs on the 2006 list ?

I just draw blanks for that list. I can remember the faces of the artists, but the music is all just a big smeared blur of ear candy production tricks IMHO.

On the other hand, "love me do" is quite easy to remember and hum along with.

On the 2006 list I'm not even sure if discernable melodies even exist at all

Some facts as to how it got worse:

Solid-state instead of tubes (big mistake)

IC's in the audio circuit (big mistake)

Digital (big mistake). Sad problem with digital, it still messes with the mix ..things that are supposed to be in the rear compete with those in front. Very cluttered, I can't listen to it.

Here we go again,
Let's move back to phonography.

now this I agree with completely...

I listen to the beatles... and that sense that the rear sounds are there but not cluttering the sound... and the front is up and centre on it's own...

another weird thing, is how the beatles panned bass hard right and drums left.... I could swear if I got the raw bass and drum track... it wouldn't sit the way their mix sits.... I can't explain it,

but the way things sit in front and behind the speaker in the old stuff is something I haven't heard, nor achieved with mixing digital... ???, really weird stuff

Movie music soundtracks are now 'state of the art recording'.
They can be fabulous.
Pop music seems to be done in peoples bedrooms.
They can be dire.
Classical, by teams of enthusiasts, for a tiny audience
They to can shine.
However the old addage is the higher the fi the worse the performance.
This is also true and always has been so.

Yeah, and I'm so happy with my new stone wheel I drive to work everyday.

I can't wait to get home and work on the inside edge with my flint and ebony.

And do you felluz KNOW how much I save on gas!

All I can say is thank god it's not (gasp) DIGITAL!!!

I HATED it back in 7000 B.C. - when I used to have to WALK everywhere (and get all that exercise!),
and everyone in my family died of the common cold by age 20.

Maybe soon they'll invent a typewriter so I don't have to keep using telekinesis to make words appear here.
...I can just scan them and attach them here in a .pdf.

I think from now on, everyone who hates digital gear, should be banned form the internet!
