Need more flavores, taste, colors for vox I read some good review about :

550a is the 3 band, the 550b is the 4 - sometimes the 4th band makes the 'b' more flexible, but I prefer the 'a' for tone/ API mojo.

I am being totally serious: ALL of the gear you've listed are stellar, world-class, choices for vocals - great comps, great EQs and great pres! You literally cannot go wrong... Buy them all or pairs of some and you will have an amazing pallet to work with!

With what you have I would do:

RACK - Get the BAE 11 SLOT
Brent Averill 11 Module Rack Mount w/PSU and 48V Phantom | VintageKing.com

Then, with 11 spaces get:

Pre's -

EZ1073 for Neve-ish, including EQ
Classic Audio Products of Illinois

and

Classic API VP26 w/Gar2520 for the vintage api312 sound
Classic Audio Products of Illinois
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Comps -

Dramastic Obsidian for Bus duties
Dramastic Audio Obsidian 500 - Stereo Bus Compressor for the API 500 Format | VintageKing.com

and

Elysia Xpressor 500 for a wide variety of Inst and vocal sources
Elysia Xpressor 500 Discrete Class A Stereo Compressor for 500 Series Format | VintageKing.com

and

Anamod 660 for lead Vox
http://www.anamodaudio.com/am660.html

and

BAC500 for vox and misc.
Pete's Place Audio BAC-500 | Compressors @ ZenProAudio.com
------------------------------------------
That leaves you two slots for EQ, which if this is for tracking duties, I would say get two differnt EQ, but if for mix also, then two identical EQ

If two diff EQ, then

A GR Harrison
Great River / Harrison 32EQ 500 Series EQ | VintageKing.com

and an API 550a
API 550A Equalizer (same switches/pots as 550b) | VintageKing.com

if for mix and getting identical eq, then go with two of the Harrisons.

Just get the MA5 for preamps... Considering you already own two other very different sounding units, you're just wasting money buying fourth and fifth option flavors. The MA5 will compliment the Pacifica and Tube Tech quite nicely (and probably quickly become your favorite of the three).

Then take that money you were going to put into those other preamps, and put it into other things that will make a bigger difference (another mic for instance).

Also, forget about getting an E27... they're all gone and nobody is parting with theirs.... we get calls practically everyday for those things. You would have to be very lucky to score one of those at this point.

Hi Tony,

Good advice,

But what about eq's or compressors ?

Tony's right about both the MA5 and the E27... sometimes happens though that somebody's selling an E27... check the used market and buy it if you could.. it's an AWESOME EQ..!!
You can't go wrong there, every piece Avedis is designing is screaming QUALITY! (and of course sounds GREAT!)

regarding the eq.. it's different, but the new tonelux eq is not bad, cleanish though..or as a vibe/mojo eq I must admit I was stunned when I heard the electrodyne 511..

comps.. very hard to tell what do you need...the JLA3 or the APA Leviathan could be a good start..

just my 0.02$,

Bests,

Cheu
