Sony C37-A Condenser Microphones

No doubt it is a very good mic. That being said, it is one that you will either love or will not have much excitement for. Like many of us, we can only own so many mics. My preference was for my AKG c12a microphones and not as much for the Sony. It did sound dynamite on electric guitar.

Never seem to hear much about this microphone. I've tried many of the great microphones talked about in this forum and owned quite a few. The C37a I owned in the 90's is one of the most memorable and one I would most like to have again. Of course they are also ridiculously priced these days. (I think I sold mine about 2001 for like $1500)

Has anyone cloned this mic?

Just plugging it in made my voice sound like a hi-fi record. Lovely microphone.

The Manley Reference Silver is "inspired by" the C-37A, for what that's worth.
