Best uses for the Manley ELOP

What are the best uses for the ELOP? I am thinking vocals for one. How is this on a 2 bus?

Vocal and bass. A bit slow for 2-bus.

Always gets used on vocals, bass, and acoustic guitars here. Don't care for it on the 2 bus.

vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar.

for some of the stuff above (i.e. electric guitar) I don't do too much gain reduction. I just like the 3-D vibe you get from running it through the box.

One other thing , I run my virtual instruments like Ivory, through my ADL 600 and kiss it the elop and record the piano as audio.

Best uses for the Manley ELOP

Fantastic on vocals & bass...I've used it with success on Elec gtr bus. Probably not ideal on 2 bus, but I suppose it depends on how everything was mixed going into it. If I was gonna use it in the 2 bus I'd put it in early during the mixing phase.

Best uses?

What it was designed for ... tracking.

During tracking, put it on drum overheads, kick, snare, toms, whatever. Vocals to catch stray peaks, acoustic to bring out string noise and slides, ect.

If you're looking for that squashed "Manley" tube compressor flavor in your mix, you want the Vari-Mu.

Rhythm guitar buss stereo to ELOP to a pair of Great River EQ32's. Pure silky heaven! Kills on bass, backing vocals too!!

backing vocal bus, string bus, horn bus - basically seats a submix within the mix like a layer of teflon (i'm using Smart C2 on the mix bus).

i just started using an RNC after it in Supernice mode for ducking behind the lead vox. happy!

i imagine a wee dram of ELOP after a pair of Distressors on heavy guitar bus would be something.

My favorite use is daisy chaining the two channels together and using on lead vocals!!!
