can I use my lynx aurora 16 and an SSL alphalink 24 I/O together with pro tools HD 2?

a friend might be bringing in his alphalink and a console and I'm wondering if I can use my current converter (lynx aurora 16) with his converter together on our rig for a total of 40 i/o for mixing.

if so, can you set the delay compensation on the ssl converter to match the lynx (considering i/o for hw inserts)?

not sure there's an elegant way to get these guys working together in harmony.

thx.

I suppose SSL madi to HD PCI-e card would work, then lynx connected to the SSL via an ADAT card?

any PT 9 users with this setup?

1. The only real way this would be possible is if you had the SSL converter with AES/EBU and used the Aurora16's AES/EBU i/o to connect it. Since it sounds like you are going to have the SSL with the ADAT i/o and not the AES/EBU i/o this will not be possible as the only way to connect the Aurora16 to PT|HD is via the LT-HD card which occupies the same slot that the LT-ADAT card would. So, the only way to connect that unit to PT|HD is with the Delta Link which is a very expensive solution to this problem.

2. Besides the Lynx Aurora and 192 i/o (and of course I'm assuming now the new Avid i/o products) there are no other converters that are sample accurate to what PT|HD is hard coded for with regards to hardware inserts. You would have to manually calculate the delay times in order to use these with PT|HD's delay compensation engine.

3. There is no MADI connection on the PT|HD card. It is a Digilink connection.
