How much is enough?

How much does Headroom on an analogue mixer matter now with modern day DAW's? Does it really matter now a days given Im used to hiking levels from tape and working on a Neve.. AM i being crazy and pedantic?

I'm going to be splitting outputs from IZ/Apogee convertors to some kind of analogue mixer for monitoring and mixing.

Thanks
Wiggy

Headroom is headroom, it always matters regardless of the medium. Possibly it matters more with a daw if you account for the fact that raw digital tracks tend to have more transient energy than tape tracks.

But from a level management perspective, digital and tape are interchangeable. Just be good about gainstaging and all will be fine.
