Time to buy a new preamp

Hello !

At the moment I use a Behringer DDX 3216. I only use it as a preamp for my mics.
I have a Brauner Phantom AE and 2x Neumann KM 184. Now I'd like to save on a very good preamp. I would like to buy a preamp which is good for acoustic and vocals as well.

I have some ideas but I wanted to ask you guys for some help. What do you think about these two pres ? Or would you advise me to buy another preamp ?

- DW Fearn VT-1

- Groove Tubes Vipre

Is a good preamp worth the money or do I have to invest in better mics first ?

Regards

Stefan

Save $ and get the A Designs MP-2a. Stereo tube pre with ef86 tubes and four choices of tones by switches and other choices of tones by how hard to drive it. New model. Assume sounding. versatile.

Designed by a Decca Engineer.

Transparent, rich...like a finished record. HUGE sound.
Mark Knopfler just ordered a rack of them, as did david gilmour, if that says anything.

those samples are with guitar and 184s.

there is also the BG2(4 channels) and compressors..but seriously...amazing sounding pre. I have a millennia HV-3C and the BG-1 sounds just as good.

Hey BigRay.

This looks interesting. How did you find out about this guy?

And how are you using this pre? What style of music, vocals, vocalists, etc.? How does this thing treat ac gtr?

Or do you not use this pre for vocals & ac. gtr?

Thanks.

You mentioned two great preamps. However, if you're looking to do acoustic, I'd think you'd want a clean preamp.

Thank you all for your comments so far.

@BigRay
Yeah, I heard some positive opinions about this preamp.

@MadGuitrst
I need a good preamp for acoustic guitar and vocals. Do you think it could be a problem to find the right pre for both recordings ?

The only problem will be that I can hardly test one of these pres, because I live in Germany and they arent't available in the music-stores I know.

But what do you think about the FMR RNP/RNC/RNL ?
