A/D Death Match - Lavry 4496 vs. UA2192

I just need 2 channels of A/D, not the D/A (already got a Benchmark DAC-1), but I suppose I might find use for the extra D/A somewhere. The Lavry with 2 channel A/D goes for around $1,650. I've got a line on a UA2192 for just a touch over $2,000. The UA has a lot of extras, but I'm not sure I'd use them (other than the 6 BNC wordclock outs, which would be nice). I also wouldn't likely use 192 on the UA very much, I'd mostly be running 96 or 44.1.

Does anybody care to compare and contrast these two?

No.

Maybe you should... but I don't care to "compare and contrast those two" in the slightest.

Best of luck with your search.

The lavry is more pristine, the UA is more of a color piece... based on rumor and anecdotal evidence on GS you'd be hard pressed to fairly compare the two. Rent them both and A/B them, see which one best fits your needs.

I happen to really like the 2192. Haven't spent enough time with the lavry stuff to make a comparison though.

Looks pretty plain to me. But tastefully done. Maybe you should check the Apogee stuff, much louder colors. And I suppose a bit of a bigger marketing budget too.
