I just used the Fearn on a project and it was better than anything else in my arsenal on vocals, Neve, Forssell...

Sadly I can't afford to keep it. It's going in the classifieds today:(

Don't beat me up because I'm pretty clueless about vocal recording - but it might give you an idea of the VT1 sound. There again I might be doing Doug a complete dis-service! Anyway - warts and all here is my mate Stan....
that clip sounds awesome and makes me want a Fearn even more than I already did.

Valvet

Chris. Have you given a brauner valvet a test drive. While I've not yet had the pleasure of tracking with a fearn. The valvet into pendulum q is pop gold(to my ears)

Since I got a Fearn, I have not thought once about mic preamps.

I spent the previous 5 years thinking about them a lot.

It was a pain in the arse.

Cured.

I use a c800g, it's much much better than a Valvet, hands down! Especially for Pop/Rap.

Nice

I've only had one opportunity to use the Sony ..... But it was definitely the right mic that day. Did you get a new one? Congrats

I own the fearn and I love it.. It's natural and open sounding... Great for acc guitar, ie. it's got body and very good class a components... For vocals I prefer something with more edge in the mid freq... still researching..
