Prism Sound vs. Apogee AD16x

Who is the winner?

Here in germany, the AD16x plus Firewire Card is nearly the same
price like prism.
But AD16 is only AD without DA and without Micpres.

Is the quality of the micpres similiar to the really good stuff like massenburg
(i own the 8304)?

Thank you for regards

For clean, neutral conversion Prism leads the game, but to many ears incl. mine Apogee has sonic edge for musicality, specially for modern pop/rock sound. Hard to describe very exaclty, but for same budget my vote goes to Apogee.

Prism vs. Apogee

I need it especially for classical recording like grand pianco, choir and organ.

I would rate Prism above Apogee.

For pop music, Apogee is my favorite. But if I were to record/mix live classical/jazz, Prism would be my choice... or a Lavry Gold... heh

You might look after Forssell converters, totally clean, neutral with exceptional dynamic you might need for your recordings.
Prism would also be better for that than Apogee.

In this case I would clearly prefer a prism over anything else.
There is a reason many classical recordings are being made using prism converters.
They are the most quiet, precise and neutral out there.

Sorry for hijacking.

What is a better solution. Prism Orpheus or a (Aurora GTQC + Rosetta 200 + 003) ?

Actually a lot of classical recordings are also done with Meitner converters for their transparency and unparalleled openess.

People romanticize converters in the most amusing ways.

"This one's for pop music, this one's for orchestral recording, this one's for chamber music..."

Love it.

mini me & mini dac are not in the same league as ad16x/da16x, you can´t compare them to the prism.
