Just to make things clear for me, since I'm still a noob, the 4033, 4040 and 4050 are the clear sounding ones, and the 4047 and 4060 are the coloured ones right?

Everything is coloured. Just different shades.

I did find some sound bytes here and there on the net, i'll have to take a decision and live with it I guess. It's a hit or miss.

.
I will post some a/b's soon. Im just out of the hospital so don't really have the need to sit behind my pc

I would buy an audio technica if I were you. Buy it on ebay by a good powerseller.

If you live in de US you can get one for cheep :-)

You can also buy a 4050 and put it in a nice tube pre ;-). That would have my preference!

The most important thing is that whatever the reason you were in the hospital you get well soon!

Then, your samples will be more than welcome here!

Peace

tlm 49 all the way. Yes, i own one. Maybe your source just doesn't sound right on it. The 49 shines on vocals with little tweaking needed.

Plenty of tlm49 samples on here which i trust.

I saw that on the website of thomann, they also have made samples of a lot of microphones

AUDIO TECHNICA AT4050 SM - Dutch International Cyberstore

NEUMANN TLM 49 - Dutch International Cyberstore

NEUMANN U87 AI - Dutch International Cyberstore

In my opinion the tlm 49 sounds the best in that site.

I have had some bad experience with tlm on low voices.

But I must say, the 4050 and the tlm 49 sound really nice on those samples.

I wanted to sell 1 tlm. But I think I will regret that.. So..

And well.. You cant have enough mics.

Wil upload some ab's from diffrent singers when Im fully recovered

Thanks for this website! I'll get my way around and hear some samples. Any idea what the setup was? Which preamp?

The U47 is undoubtedly great, but I don't understand what having balls has to do with something being gay or not. Does this mean that if I have a lesbian client, I should use a different mic? Will a gay male client like the U47 more or less because it has balls?

Also, doesn't the U-47 also have a "female" connector? Does this mean its a trans-gendered or inter-sexed mic?

Why do we even make such a big deal about homosexuality anymore?

I just have one rule when it comes to gay clients using gay mics; cover the mic with a condom first. It's kinda disgusting what can get trapped in the mesh.

That's what you call mics giving colored sounds. Rainbow colored sounds.

Unfortunately, this is too broad a question to answer. Gotta be more specific: e.g. what type of voice, what style of music..?
