I have a Lynx Aurora 8 and a Ramsa WZ-AD96 and I love them both, but I must say there are times when I love the RAMSA more. The RAMSA sounds more "analogue-y" and punchy to me, especially on drums, and I just love that. They're both great boxes, but I think the RAMSA is seriously underrated.

Surprising numbers. Has everyone sold their Digi 192s? I can count 15 in my area alone.

It is a 2 channel converter. My Hedd was something like my x series. But warmer or (analog). Very similar to the UA2192 another 2 channel

You sure you didn't have the processing engaged? My experience is quite the opposite of that.

The processing was a joke. But the converters dry are great. IMO.

Didn't sound like tape at all nor tubes. YMMHSTYD. (Your monitors may have spoken to you differently)

My whole point was the the unit doesn't sound "coloured" much at all, where as a 2192 does have a definite sound it imparts.

Otherwise I guess I just don't understand what you're trying to explain as it seems to two different things.

EmmLabs ADC8 MKIV, but I want a Mytek

Using EmmLabs Meitner ADC8 MKIV. Great, extremely neutral and transparent.

But I think I like the Mytek sound best. thumbsup

Mytek users please chime in experiences on build and reliability (because their sound is not an issue, they sound GREAT!) I know many people that unfortunately have had problems with them.

Lucid 88192 ....they kick ass because they are soooo transparent. They do not add a sound of their own like many other convertors on the market.

Well when I freelance its usually at studio's running Digi 192's. And if I'm lucky there's a Pacific Microsonics there- simply the best I've ever heard.

When I'm on my home rig its a Panasonic/Ramsa for A-D and Benchmark D-A. With an MR816 stuck in the middle.

Here we use RME ADI-8QS and RME FIREFACE 800 (and Benchmark DAC1USB for monitoring).

Why there's no RME on the pool? At least ADI-xxx...

all the best,
ave.

+1 for the Panasonic/Ramsa. I have that and the Aurora 8, but I prefer the Ramsa. Sounds more analogue-y to my ears.

I use a Mackie 800R myself - maybe not highbrow enough for some gearslutz, but the A/D conversion sounds perfectly useable to my ears, and i'm not looking to upgrade any time soon.

I rely on the mantra that great talent will always translate into great sound - nice gear is just a bonus.
