BTW: those of you who mentioned Manley seem to be always speaking of the Massive-Passive. I agree that this is too clinical for kick and bass, though very sweet for a little HF boost on a vocal. Has anyone tried the Manley "tube enhanced" Pultec?
Yeah i posted about it earlier.

It works sometimes for Kick and snare. Its not always my first choice.

It does work better on live drums than samples.

For bass its a thumbs down.

Bass is a tricky thing. Either it works or i doesn't.

Fairman is almost 6000 pounds in the U.K. and around 7500 euros in Europe.

I had a chance to buy an ex demo Manley Enhanced Pultec. I eventually didn't because of mixed friends feedback saying that it was a good unit but not that exceptional (never had the chance to try it myself).

Hey Malice, you seem to be an expert on Requisite gear! Any news about the Requisite Eq which was supposed to be released around September last year.......?

I wish I had more info, Danny Mc Kinney seems to be a very slow and meticulous guy, although he is very nice guy ...

I'm exchanging emails with him for an upgrade on my pal+ for the moment, I might ask him when he plan to release the beast, I'll get back to you

best

I'm thinking of getting a Pal +, Malice, what is the upgrade you're thinking of having done to it? BTW- do you know if regular PAL's can be upgraded to +?

Well, good for you, you won't be disapointed by that.

I don't know about regular PAL. What I was talking about was upgrading previous Pal+ to new PAL+

Same look but :

1) heaters are converted to AC from DC ( AC heaters sound better according to Danny Mc kinney)
2) installation of new, custom made audio caps
3) new power supply is about 800% duty cycle and sounds better
4) Power supply is external and can supply two units.

The upgrade cost around 400$
a new pal+ with power supply cost 3000$

What's cool is that they build the New Pal+ while upgrading the old one in order to have match pair ...

Cool

Danny claim it sounds 20/30 % better than the old one, I just can't imagine how it is possible

Need to find 3400$, that is the only thing bothering me now heh

malice

btw, Danny email is on his site, he is very nice when answering question

Malice,

In other words does he sell direct from the factory?

concerning the Requisite EQ, here is a quote from my mail exchange with Danny as he authorized me to unveil some newz :

"Thanks for asking about the EQ. Right now, it's on the back burner. The
reason is not because of a lack of interest, it's because we have two
products we are releasing before the EQ.

Over the years we have done custom reference monitor installations and we've
had quite a bit of success with it so I decidied to develope a modest line
of monitors. The first release is an 8" 2-way that is available with or
without power.

The second is a model we call the Cantilever. Each cabinet features a dual
ring-radiator tweeter, 7” mid-bass w/magnesium cone, and integrated
side-firing 12” long-excursion subwoofer and passive radiator. The unique
cabinet is shaped in such a way as to allow nearfield placement with minimal
visual obstruction. The bulk of the cabinet acts as a speaker stand and is
located behind the console. The mid and hi frequency drivers cantilever
over the meter bridge while entirely avoiding contact with the mixing
console. Each cabinet is bi-amplified with 500 watts of patented hi-speed
power. This is the world’s first truly full-range (25Hz to 40kHz) nearfield
monitoring system.

Once things get settled with the monitors (shipping crates, fabrication,
photos & etc...) I'll be working hard to finish the EQ."

Well, that's sound promising isn't it ...

Well, I bought my Pal+ from Pierre at funkyjunk France for a good price ...

But I might do the upgrade directly from Danny, as FunkyJunk didn't advise me it was possible.

BUT,

I don't know, the relation I have with the european distributor is good so far. It might be a little more expensive, but with the shipment and taxes, it won't make a big difference...

It doesn't look like an exclusive deal so far, but Danny would answer this question better than me

Thanks Malice.
I am sure the Eq won't disappoint! Hope it is as good as the L2Mheh
The nearfield should be interesting too!
