HEDD and Apogee 16 bit dither

HEDD and Apogee 16 bit dither

I've been using Apogee Rosetta UV22HR (sample rate converting from 96/24 to 44.1/16) with excellent results.

But I recently discovered that the Crane Song HEDD can sample rate convert and dither to 16 bits. I tried this not using any of the HEDD's processing.

Question: Anybody have opinions which method is better? I had read that Bob Katz had problems with the HEDD at 44.1/16 and it got me wondering if he was referring to the HEDD operating/processing at 44.1/16 or if this also included the HEDD's ability to dither to 16 bit.

I'd really appreciate any comments or experiences with both devices.

thanks!
