Barefoot...

Has the emergence of the MM27 into the market basically made monitor choice a whole lot easier?

I'm strongly considering a pair.. but the price (australia) ouch!

If your main priority is creating a mix that will translate well to the "outside world" (ie: other varied playback systems) then yes, the choice has indeed become much easier.

I was stressing a little about the AU$6800 each price tag, but a quote from Awave (including the Mac Pro, two Lynx Aurora 16 and two Lynx AES 16e cards) shows a much nicer price

I won't post their price here though you'll just have to call them up and find out for yourselves

Having mine for one month now and loving them.
No need for a second pair of speakers here.

That's great news. Do I recall that you were resisting the possible 'hype' for a long time?

I buy all my gear from Lew. He will look after you

They are great monitors. If they were $6000 a pair i'd buy in a second.

I have compared some speakers and didn´t find anything similar in this price range.
In this single case I found the gs comments to be valid for my ear - in many others...not.
Thrill was the one who mentioned the word hype..
On the other hand without gs I probably wouldn´t even have heard about these speakers at this end of the world
so I should be grateful.

I like simple solutions.
Barefoot is one.

You're using a sub WITH the barefoots?! Sounds mad, but then again my control room's pretty small.
I'm guessing your control rooms pretty big?

You can bypass via footswitch for critical listening.
wanna get a bass player motivated in the control room?
hit the switch
no mains needed

You notice most pictures of room with MM27's only have.... MM27's in them? heh I've got several sets of monitors in my storageroom but recently will add a pair: Auraltone Cubes (or whatever they're called, avantone....?) and since I hate the color (creamy beigy white), I will paint them... dunno... maybe deep purple..? Well, not me -- I'll take it down to the car painter and gitter done right! heh

Our hip-hop clients like to track with a sub (Tannoy) underneath the Barefeet. It's a very subtle difference at the mix position but it does make the low end a bit more prominent behind the producer's desk and give the client a lift.
