Yet another Preamp question (UA 4110)

Hi there,

I know these kind of questions like "which preamp should I buy next?" have
been covered like a million times. But I´m specially interested in the new UA 4110
( or respectivley 8110) and couldn´t find much info here and elsewhere.
So I´m basically interested, is anyone using this piece and what are their opinions?
What I´ve read is, that it seems to be a really clean and transparent preamp and
I wonder how much variation in sound does the shape switch really give you?

At the moment I´m using an ISA 428 as my main Preamp. I find it also to be
somewhat clean and transparent ánd would like to know if the UA could be the
right piece of gear to compliment it.

I mainly record from Rock to Heavy Metal and looking for a preamp that can give me
some more color, specially for recording distorted guitars.
I kown a lot of people here suggest the Chandler stuff for guitar, but as the prices
recently have gone up, this is too exspensive specially here in Germany (the TG 2
incl Power Supply costs about 2800 EUR!!!)

I also read really good reviews about the new Portico stuff from Neve, but at the
moment these can only be ordered direct from the US.

So thats why I´m basically asking about the UA 4110, as it´s claiming to be very
versatile and being able to give a lot of variation on the sound.

Any replys or comments are greatly apreciated.
Regards,
Kilian

If its anything like the discontinued 2108 mic pre it should be pretty nice, especially with a street price of about $2000 - it will be going toe to toe with the API3124+ so it had better hold up to the hype.

I like the concept a lot. We'll see.

I called a few dealers.
The 4110 is not available yet.
The 8 channel is and it sounds great.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I didn´t know that the 4110 is not avaiable yet. Most shops here in Germany
have it already listed for some time now.
Well, maybe thats the the reason why I hardly find any user reviews/info

Kilian
