Neve 33415 Sound ?

When Neve 33415's are racked up as mic pre's what do they closest resemble in sound in the Neve family?
Cheers

I am about to get them recapped and was wondering if they sounded more like 1073's or will the always sound like line amp with more gain?
Cheers

The input trans is the same one used on the 1081, 10468.
After a recap and I would jumper the trim pot (VR1)
You will need the 6.8K 1% resistors and a 15-20dB pad on the input.
I would use a 2.5K pot between the first and second amp block.
After that they sound very nice..
You will need to decide how much gain, around 55dB is enough for most applications.
And you split that up between the first and second amp block, which you would subtract the input/out trans gain..

Due to their output amplifier they will sound more like a 1081 than a 1073... due to the fact that they're line amps, they'll sound exactly like line amps... the amount of gain will depend on how you configure the amp for use.

So called Line amps that use the EXACT same Input transformer as the 1081 MIC PRE...

Hi

And EXACTLY NOT the same output transformer as said 1081 MIC PRE.

If anything, the modules will sound like a 31105 with the EQ off as the output stage is identical and input stages passingly similar... it depends how they are wired.

Like the 31105, and the 33114/5/7 family, they all need a 600 ohm output termination.

Didn't say they used the same Exact output trans...

Hi

No, but the inference, by using block capitals, was that it was significant.

The thread started with a question whether the module it might sound like a 1073. The answer is no and the similarity of input transformer is hardly relevent...

But that's just me and my 2c

Sorry but NO, that was NOT the OP question...
Then I simply made a few statements of Fact, sorry if that offends you and Fletcher...
