Low frequency = 33, 56, 100, 180, 330Hz

Low Mid = 100, 140, 200, 300, 400, 500, 630, 800Hz, 1K, 1.4KHz

High Mid = 2, 2.5, 3.2, 4, 5, 6.3, 7, 8, 10, 12KHz

High Frequency = 3.3, 4.7, 6.8, 10 and 15KHz

High Pass Filter = 22, 47, 82, 150, 270Hz

Low Pass Filter = 3.9, 5.6, 8.2, 12, 18, 22KHz

I expect that 1073 and 1084 frequencies lurk somewhere in there!

The only way you could do that (without resorting to digital control) is like the Neve 2087 which was two 1081 motherboards inside a case with stereo stepped controls for everything... including Stereo Elma 04 switches for the stepped gain boost and cut.

They did not make many and they would fetch a fortune if they came up for sale. They were used in disc mastering consoles.

My equaliser uses pcb mounted pots and switches. The Elma 04's on the Neves had 23 position controls giving 2dB per step. Hard to fit one of those on a pcb!

We made a small batch of ten of the 1U units (that will become collector's items now!) before going to 2U to give more room for fat fingers (like mine) to turn the switches without nudging the pots!

The photo on the High Profile Audio site is out of date as the 2U version is the production version and the one we demo'd at the AES.

Is the new Aurora GT4-8 EQ inductor based like the old Neve and Siemens EQ's?
I'm using 8 Siemens W295B EQ's in combination with the GTP8 now but I will maybe switch for your combo.
But the Siemens V276 / W295B combo is also a super and sounds good whatever setting...

I would like to listen and try one.

Yes, the new four bands use custom inductors for the two mid sections, along with three Q selections, while the LF, HF and filters are based on the GTQ2 circuitry

Anyone using this piece yet? I'd love to hear some feedback.

So, are the EQs the same as those in the GTQ2 only more robust in terms of frequency choices or are we talking different electronics?

Geoff will have to address the latter question, but there does seem to be a family resemblance to the sound. There are two aspects, aside from the flexibility, which seem markedly better sounding than the GTQ2 (which I still love) - the HPF and high shelf.

I honestly havent done a direct A/B comparison between the mids...I'll try to remember to do that sometime soon.

I really can't overuse the superlatives here; this thing is an utter joy to mix through.

The power and flexibility are absolutely awesome. It doesn't matter whether you make the tiniest tweak, or if you need to get really radical, the GT4 brings the euphony.

I am exceedingly grateful to be using the eight channel version, but I can't help but wish I had 16....

Yes... It uses the same amplifier cards and transformers. But, the EQ is so much more expanded it's hard to compare them beyond that.

Any more info or comments on this unit? It has been unusually silent. But the features and information so far is fabulous - so I expect to hear more about it.

Not easily as the switches and pots are pcb mounted.... I could if my arm was twisted provide pots with 17 detents and on the +/-6dB range of the HF and LF this would give reasonably close to 0.5dB.... but wouldn't help with the mids.
