The reason I'm asking is that I didn't have much time to do any research before I bought it. The opportunity to buy it presented itself out of the blue, and I knew that if I didn't act quickly, someone else might grab it. (It's a boxed item, brand new, not a demo; the retailer is well-established and reputable.)

It is very uncharacteristic of me to act so impulsively (I usually painstakingly research any piece of gear before buying).

I think I got a good deal. Did I?

I believe that's about right. No stellar deal, just right.

If it's reall new and warrantied as such, then I'd say it was good. They run more like $3K most places that I've seen. Is anyone else out there selling them for close to $2.2?

I ordered mine from bswusa.com.

I just checked their site, and they have some available for around $2,400. (I got mine for $2,200 because I ordered it during a "10 Percent Off" President's Day Sale -- i.e., $2,400 less ten percent = $2,200.) Apparently, they are closing out the LA-2As.

(Also: Free shipping, and no taxes if ordered from outside CA.)

If it's what you want, and it works for you, then yeah... that's a good deal.

$2,200 new is very good. Some people pay around that much for used ones. They're $3k new at most places.

LA-2A for $2,200 is a good deal indeed. You gotta go with impulse buys sometimes.

Yeah, you saved about $400 hundred more than what sweetwater or guitar center would have given it to you with some haggling.thumbsup

I bought one that was just two years old in perfect condition with zero rack rash. Included all the original docs and manual for $1,500. So far, I've not seen a better deal than that, except for the guy in this thread that got one for $1,400. BTW, I recently swapped out the tubes for a vintage set of GE's and RCA and good LORD. This thing just sounds heavenly now. Thanks, Bowie! heh
