Price and value are two very different things.

You can pay as much as €50,000 for the most expensive wine bottle. Does it make it the best? I dont think so. Even to an expert, some €200 wine bottles can be better than the €50k one, so whoever is paying the high sum is simply pissing money away.

Same with a mic. The most expensive mic could be some sm58 stuffed with Svarovski cristals that Paris Hilton used once in some speech, and that some crazy collector is willing to pay €100k for it. Is this the best mic?

Picasso paintings are unique. Mics are pedestrian tools made in series out of a factory assembling chain. But to some collector, both can be worth thousands, millions, trillions, or nothing.

FWIW, it's widelyl known that Thriller vocals were cut on a paltry SM7. As it made the best selling album ever, the SM7 must be the best mic ever. Or maybe not?

those mics were bought 10 years ago from a widow who lives/d in a small 5,000 people village. I can assure you she wasn't paid $60k for them. I'd guess somthing more like $6k for both or so.

Now, are those mics better now that they "cost" $60k than when they were $6k?

For the same 60k you can buy a brand new AWS900+ and two TeleUSA 251s. What would an engineer do? What would a collector do?
