Sanken co-100k / Neumann KM 130 or what else?

I've used for the last 10 years every time the same Mics for A/B-Orchestra-Recording: Neumann KM130 - and I like them! But now I'm a little bit tired and would like to buy something better. Microphones, which are perhaps a little bit more precise, a little bit more realistic, more neutral etc., if that is possible... So I found the Sanken CO-100K. I heard every TELARC- and Unamas- Recordings made with them and I think, they sound great, but I never used them. What do you think, are they really much better than the Neumann or are they just more expensive because of the 100k? Are there good alternatives? Should be SDC. I do just classical music (Orchestra/Choir/Organ/Strings/Chamber Music) and the Mics should be the main A/B pair so the must be omnis. And of course they must really sound better as the KM 130.

Thanks for helping and apologize for my bad English

With the CO-100K, be prepared for a level of transparency that no other mic out there has.

While this can be a really good thing, it can also be a really bad thing. Why? It shows everything that is good, but it also shows everything that isn't. Are your rooms perfect? Are your ensembles absolutely top rate? If you answer yes to both, the Sanken would probably be a great choice for you. If no, than you may want to consider a mic that is a bit more forgiving.

My omnis here are DPA and Schoeps. One of these days when I get a bit more cash, I'll probably also get a pair of Sennheiser 8000 series omnis (8020). For now, the 2 varieties of Schoeps and the DPA 4006 give me plenty of choices. Both have good and bad points. Get balls and you have one set of choices, high-lift gives another, etc...

Once you get to a certain level, it is hard to go wrong.

Finally I bought them, and I'm very (!) happy. The sound is exactly I searched for me. I've used them now for several times, mostly together with my Neumann-Mics, but last Thursday I made a recording just using them with an Apogee MiniMe 88,2Khz/24bit. No EQ, compressor etc. was used. It's the Overture to Händels Opera "Alessandro" played by the Strings of the Orchestra of our Musicschool. Of course they are not Berlin PO, but to hear how the Microphones sound, it's not the worst sample. Here is the Link:

If somebody listen to it I would be happy to get a response what you think about the sound. The Mics are about 2,5m above the head of the conductor.

Gregor, i think it sounds fantastic! Nice depth and balance. What mic spacing did you use? Any added reverb? Great mics and great job!

The Mics were spaced 80cm with an angle of ca. 30° towards the orchestra. No reverb was added, the concert took place in a church.

The link is a bit old now so it's not valid anymore. But I'm really interested to hear it. Is it possible to send it again?
Did you tried 4006 and Schoeps CMC6 MK2?
Thanks

I think that you miss one that could well be the winner: DPA 4041.
I would also add Neumann TLM50s.

TLM 150 does not exist. The right name is M 150 (the full name is M 150 Tube) despite it is a transformer-less microphone.

DPA 4006, Josephson C617, Shopes MK5 and Sanken CO-100K in a piano test.

I like the clarity from the Sanken in this test.

Hi there. Would love to purchase a CO-100K in the near future for sound design purposes. Seems like a solid choice for it. But I'm wondering if it's also good on vocals. Can anyone share their experiences with the CO-100K as a mic for VO for instance?
