Where can I get/hear these recordings?
How were they recorded, using what?

Here's a link to a short description of optical sound:

Here's a definition I found:

Optical Sound (Optical Sound Track)
The projection of sound that is recorded to a photosensitive film track. This is still used today even though the quality of sound is not as true as digital recordings. Projectors in most theatres contain projectors that combine forms of illumination for the image track and the sound track. The sound track, which is joined with the image track, passes a bulb that shines the "optically recorded sound" onto a photosensitive device that converts the light waves into sound waves. The sound waves are then amplified and sent through a speaker. It is still cost effective because most theatre projectors are of this type and it would be quite difficult and expensive to transform or replace the conventional theatre projectors.

As I dig through bins of old LP's, I often find things that were recorded to 35mm film. There's a performance of 'Pictures at an Exhibition' that shows up a lot, and one of 'Grand Canyon Suite'.

And here's a blurb on Esquivel:

Very 'atomic-age/martini-age' stuff. Had a rennaisance a few years back. Nice.

i flew to your city for four hours a couple of years ago so as to go check out that house at 2648 west grand boulevard
I'm embarrassed I've been here for 27 years and have never been there; 23 years since the DIA museum. I need to take some time out to go... replenish my soul.
