Inline Padding????

Hotep Gentlemen,

Just wanting to know what is a good inline pad that I can buy...... Alot of people recommend the Shure A15AS' (and I would like to know anyone who has those when they are using the variable attenuation switch and for what?)

Are there any alternatives? Do I really need a variable switch.... sorry but I can't think of any reason why I would need it...(it's probably 'cause they're so expense... and I need 4 of them......) And where would I be able to get them cheap...??

Also would the frequency response of the damn thing affect my signal going into the pre? Are the added harmonics of the pre (above 20k) added to the signal even if the those harmonics don't exist within the signal in the first place? (sorry ahead of time for possibly starting a debate over that question alone)

I ask because I'm not only tracking into my pre I'm running my mix through it as well

Help me out ..... thanx, Agno
