Otari Status console?DW

I'm still searching for an analog console and so far it's down to an Audient or D&R. I've just heard there is an Otari Status. Has anyone ever used one of these? It is digitally controlled analog and therefore has some kind of total recall.

My vote would go to the Amek Media 51. It has better mic pre's/EQ's(Neve) than the Audient and D&R. It is surround ready(if you will go that route one day). The foot print isn't as large(if space is a problem). The automation(Supertrue) is very common(if you have free lancers mixing at your place). The wiring is simple(no Elco's just XLR's and 1/4").

Like I said it has a lot of benefits going for it.

The Otari Status i used was ok. The mic pre's were generic sounding. I think Otari still supports the automation. Do a search on its history(Soundworkshop).

Good Luck.

I think that Dave Fridmann uses an Otari console as well. Check the Tape Op archives.
